Funding opportunities

NeuroSleep researchers have extensive experience in fostering training in clinical research and mentoring trainees from a range of professional disciplines. Trainees will be exposed to leading neurological and sleep health research including multi-centre international and national research through the work of NeuroSleep investigators. Our goal is to create research leaders. See latest opportunities here.

Clinical research fellowships

This popular one year program of strongly mentored protected clinical research time is combined with limited clinical work. Trainees will have an active role in interdisciplinary clinics. This fellowship would suit senior advanced trainees or recently FRACP qualified physicians who wish to pursue a clinical research year or are considering a higher degree in sleep or respiratory research. The program is suitable for a wide range of physician advanced training specialties (sleep, respiratory, neurology, endocrinology, etc.), pharmacists, epidemiologists, nurses and psychologists, and for non-physician medical practitioners such as ENT surgeons or GPs. Fellows are encouraged to continue in a higher degree research program at the end of their fellowship.

Postdoctoral fellowships

These fellowships are suitable for outstanding researchers within 1-6 years of the award of their PhD. Successful candidates are able to choose an appropriate project with one of the NeuroSleep investigators. Salary is dependent on experience and track record. The duration of the post-doctoral fellowship is one year in the first instance with the possibility of extension. Part-time and full-time positions are offered.

Postgraduate scholarships

Postgraduate scholarships are for PhD or Masters of Philosophy students undertaking research that will be supervised or co-supervised by the NeuroSleep investigators at the participating institutions. Preference will be given to candidates enrolled, or intending to enrol, in a PhD. It is expected that NeuroSleep scholarship holders will apply for other formal awards (e.g. NMHRC, APA, UPA scholarships, etc.).
